Junior Gong

Damian Marley is the most versatile and prolific of the Marley family. He bridged the gap between conscious Reggae and Hip-Hop/R&B. At a time that both genres were veering off to commercialism, Junior Gong released music that upheld the root of these genres in terms of lyrical content and musical authenticity.

#ICONIC

Grace Jones, Jamaican-American supermodel, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Extravagant, eccentric, controversial(?), #GraceJones managed to stay ahead of the herd for most of her career. For #InternationalWomensDay we’ve created a collection of tracks from her diverse music catalog which is now featured on the #UbuntuFM #Dance #Radio channel.

How it all started

"Love Can't Turn Around" is a 1986 Chicago house song by Farley Keith Williams a.k.a. Farley "Jackmaster" Funk and Jesse Saunders featuring vocalist Darryl Pandy. It holds an important place in the history of house music as the first record in that genre to cross over from the U.S. clubs to the UK Singles Chart.

A work worthy of reference

Strong A.R.M features Warren J. Gallimore in 'Bet'cha Didn't Know'. Following its commercial release in early 2018, 'Bet'cha Didn't Know' has gained considerable acceptance within the EDM genre, standing out mostly for its elements of Rap and HipHop.

One of the reasons UbuntuFM was established

A traveler through a country would stop at a village and he didn't have to ask for food or for water. Once he stops, the people give him food, entertain him. That is one aspect of Ubuntu, but it will have various aspects. Ubuntu does not mean that people should not enrich themselves. The question therefore is: Are you going to do so in order to enable the community around you to be able to improve? - Pres. Nelson Mandela
